We are responsible for planning and managing flood prone lands in our area. The NSW Government provides assistance on state wide policy issues and technical support. Funding assistance is also provided to undertake floodplain management studies and to implement the study’s recommendations.
The NSW Government’s Flood Prone Land Policy and the Floodplain Development Manual form the basis of floodplain management in NSW. We must comply with and abide by the principles set out in the policy and manual in all floodplain management works.
We are required to prepare Flood Studies, Floodplain Risk Management Studies and Floodplain Risk Management Plans for all our catchment areas in accordance with the floodplain management process.
