​Bushland and Creek Restoration

Council staff and contractors are working at approx. 100 sites throughout our local government area aiming to restore our bushland and creek areas. The scope of these restoration works varies from site to site however generally includes the removal of weeds, re-vegetation using local native plants and mulching. Education, assistance and support is also provided to volunteers groups and /or residents collaborating nearby.

Dune Management

Council has adopted the Wollongong Dune Management Strategy for the Patrolled Swimming Areas of 17 Beaches. Details relating to this Strategy and its implementation are located on the Dune Management page.

Vertebrate Pest Management

Council has endorsed a Vertebrate Pest Animal Management Policy and various management plans outlining the Council's approach to pest management in our natural areas. Refer to Vertebrate Pest Management for further information.
In addition, the Indian Myna Bird Action Program is a Council sponsored community program that aims to provide a response to the growing community concern regarding the abundance and distribution of Indian Myna Birds within the region and their impact on native wildlife, human health and our environment.
