🐾 Meet Nemo – The Ultimate Snuggle Bug! 🐾

Nemo is a one-year-old ginger boy with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines brighter than ever! Despite coming to us with a fractured leg that required amputation, Nemo is thriving in foster care and living life to the fullest. His resilience is inspiring, and his affectionate nature will melt your heart.

✨ Personality & Temperament:
🐱 Affection Overload: Nemo is the definition of a lap cat! He insists on sleeping on your chest, nuzzled into your face and neck every night.
💕 Clingy & Loving: If you stop patting him, he’ll gently nudge your hand until you start again. He even gives adorable wet-nose boops when he wants more attention!
🐾 Social Butterfly: Friendly with everyone he meets—humans, cats, and even dogs!
🍽️ Food Motivated: Treats are his love language.
🎮 Toy Shy: Still learning to enjoy toys, but his playful side will come out with time.

🏡 Ideal Home:
Nemo would suit a home that wants a super affectionate, people-oriented cat. He’s submissive with other cats and does well with careful introductions. Whoever adopts Nemo should love cuddles—because he’ll want them all day, every day!

🩺 Health Notes:
Nemo had his left leg amputated after a fracture, but he’s in amazing spirits and gets around beautifully. He can be picked up and held easily, but if he’s lying on you and you try to readjust him, he may give a soft warning nip near his amputation side—just his way of saying “ouch, careful!”

Yes you can!

When you let us know you're interested to adopt a cat or adopt a dog, we'll contact you and arrange a meet and greet so you can say hello and decide if they’re the one for you.

Our dogs and cats are boarded at a number of regional kennelling facilities contracted by Council. These are currently located across Wollongong, Gerringong and Nowra. You can't directly visit these facilities, but we'll bring the dog or cat to a location in our area that works for you.

Being a pet owner is a big responsibility.

To adopt a pet from Council:

  • You must be over 18 years old
  • You don't have to live in the Illawarra, but you will need to be able to transport your pet home.

Before adopting a new pet, consider your lifestyle and living arrangements.

We recognise the serious issue of baiting within the animal rehoming industry. To help prevent this, we have an assessment process in place for potential owners.

Potential owners are vetted to make sure that they’re suitable and committed to animal well-being.
