Notification of Public Hearing for Planning Proposals for Property Review and Reclassification of Council Land

Council recently publicly exhibited the following two Planning Proposals.

Planning Proposal for the Review of Council Landholdings (PP-2025/3)

This Proposal was exhibited between 17 February and 31 March 2026.

The Proposal seeks to reclassify the following sites from Community Land to Operational Land and rezone some of the sites:

Planning Proposal for the Reclassification of Council owned land (PP-2025/11)

This Proposal was exhibited between 3 March and 31 March 2026.

The proposal seeks to reclassify Lot 105 DP 814045 – 135 Corrimal Street, Wollongong and Lot 13 DP 37759 – 13 Stewart Street, Wollongong from Community Land to Operational Land.

Public Hearing

The next step in the process for both of these Planning Proposals is for Council to hold a Public Hearing.

Anyone is welcome to attend the Public Hearing to hear a presentation on the proposed reclassification and rezoning of the above sites from Community to Operational land.

The Public Hearing also provides an opportunity to ask questions or make comments about the proposal and the reclassification and rezoning processes.  This Public Hearing will be conducted by an Independent Chairperson who will provide Council with a Public Hearing Report after the meeting. 

The details of the Public Hearing are as follows:

Date and time: Tuesday 21 April 2026, 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Location: Level 9 Function Room, Council Administration Building, 41 Burelli Street, Wollongong

If you wish to attend the Public Hearing, please register your interest by calling Council’s Land Use Planning Team on (02) 4227 7111 no later than Friday 17 April 2026.

Please note:

  • A list of attendees will be provided to the Independent Chairperson before the meeting date.
  • Any questions, comments or concerns raised on the evening will be documented.
  • Council will make a copy of the Public Hearing Report available for inspection by the public after the hearing.
  • The feedback received through the exhibition process and the hearing will be discussed in a Post Exhibition report prepared for Council’s consideration on the respective Planning Proposals.
  • Should Council resolve to finalise the Planning Proposal(s), Wollongong Local Environmental Plan 2009 Schedule 4 – Classification and reclassification of public land will be amended and the land reclassified from Community Land to Operational Land.
