As the world’s best cyclists compete in Wollongong for the UCI Road World Championships, our city will come alive with the sights and sounds of Spin Fest, a community celebration with something for everyone. You don't need a bike to get involved! We’re kicking off race week with the Spin Fest Beach Party - a FREE beach-side gig on North Beach.

Catch energetic performances from acclaimed headline act Electric Fields, and live favourites Caravãna Sun, Emily Wurramara and True Vibenation. Dance on the sand, grab dinner under the stars, and experience a traditional First Nations smoking ceremony and Junkyard Beats drum finale.

First Nations Welcome to Country

Experience a traditional Welcome to Country on Dharawal land. Dr Jodi Edwards will perform the Welcome in language, followed by a fire lighting and smoking ceremony. The Gumaraa dance troupe will showcase Australia's rich indigenous culture through an evocative traditional dance and didgeridoo performance.

Beats, Eats + Entertainment

Beach Party will be a feast for the senses with a pop-up street food market taking over the Cliff Road car park. Your favourite food trucks will serve up savoury and sweet treats from 5pm, with a side dish of DJs, curious roving entertainers and circus artists.

On stage, eminent Drag King Axl Rod will bring the gloriously bemulleted fun, as the MC with multiple personalities from mechanic to merman.

Prefer to dine in? Nearby venues including the Novotel, Diggies Café and North Beach Pavilion will open late for dinner and drinks.

Beach Party will take place on the sand at North Wollongong Beach. Please note that the beach will be closed for swimming from 5pm onwards.

  • It is recommended that attendees travel to the event by public transport.
  • Road Closures:
  • Daytime closures: Surrounding roads including Cliff Rd and George Hanley Drive will be closed from 8:00am on Saturday 17th for the UCI Road World Championships. Visit the Wollongong 2022 website to learn more about road closures around the city between 17-25 September.
  • Evening closures: Cliff Road will remain closed to vehicle traffic between George Hanley Drive and Blacket Street, during the Beach Party event. Cars will not be able to enter the Cliff Road car park.
  • Buses: Bus routes and times may vary during the UCI Road World Championships weeks.  For up to date service info, download the Opal App. Free shuttle bus routes will be operating for Beach Party until 11pm. View route maps here.
  • Trains: The nearest train station is North Wollongong station. For up to date service info download the Opal App, or search train timetables here
  • Taxis:  Book a taxi service from one of our local providers: Wollongong Radio Cabs and Illawarra Taxi Network
  • On-street Parking: On-street parking is free after 4:30pm on Saturdays. Please note that due to event road closures attendees are encouraged to park further away and walk or bus to the event site at North Beach.

  • Entry to Beach Party is FREE, and no tickets are required.
  • Patrons are advised that admission to the event may be closed off once event capacity has been reached.
  • Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
  • Glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

  • Bag searches will take place on entry.
  • Bring your dancing shoes (beach-friendly) and get ready to dance!
  • Please note that Beach Party is a general admission event, with no seating provided.
  • Feel free to bring along a picnic blanket if you'd like to sit.
