Enjoy a night out at the drive-in

Wednesday 24 June 2020

Jump in the car and grab the best seat going to our drive-in movie event this July presented by Wollongong City Council.

Council and Care South, with media partners i98FM and WIN, are holding a special school holiday drive-in movie night on Friday 10 July at Kembla Grange Racecourse.

The drive-in will feature the modern family friendly movie Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

Gates will open at 5.30pm with cartoon shorts running from 6pm and the main movie, Jumanji, showing from 7pm. Food and snacks will also be available for purchase from the Kembla Grange Racecourse Function Centre.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that the movie presented a great option for parents trying to find socially distant fun activities to do with their children over the holiday period.

“Council has previously run outdoor movies over summer in some of our local parks, and they’ve always been great fun and enjoyed by all who have come along. This year, recognising the impact of COVID-19, we’re offering, for one night only, a pop-up drive-in movie in the Kembla Grange Racecourse carpark,” he said.

“Tickets are priced at $14 per car, making it a fun and budget-friendly way for families to enjoy the movies together as well."

“Many of the children in our community may not have had the opportunity to experience a drive-in movie before, and I know the thought of going to the drive-in again will be a sentimental event for countless parents and grandparents, so I think it will be a great evening to bring families together.’’

Sponsor Care South said, “Winter is the perfect time for our families to rug up and watch a family favourite, with social distancing in mind we jumped at the chance to support this ‘back to the olden days’ initiative”.

Those excited for the drive-in are encouraged to book early as space is limited. Tickets go on sale today and are available for purchase online.
