Big Seas Close Continental Pool
The Continental Pool will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday 26 May, to clean debris that has washed into the pools over the weekend.
The huge seas have washed debris into the popular saltwater pools, and the continuing large seas this week have prevented clean-up works getting underway sooner.
Under the current NSW Public Health Order the Continental pools are open Tuesdays to Sundays for swimmers who have reserved a lane and 30-minute slot. Council staff have contacted all those who reserved a Tuesday swimming window to notify them of the closure.
We are aiming to reopen the pools on Wednesday 27 May.
Council’s crews are also assessing other hotspots along the coastline known for sand movement and coastal erosion in large seas. The promenade at Thirroul Beach will be cleaned later this week, after a significant amount of sand washed up onto the promenade over the weekend. Council’s crews will return the sand to the beach once the weather conditions have abated.
