Flags Up For Longer Tomorrow
With Wollongong forecast to hit 32 degrees tomorrow, Wollongong City Council’s Lifeguards will extend their patrol hours to provide swimmers extra beach time.
Hours at 7 of our 17 patrolled beaches will be increased, with flags up until 6pm and until 7pm at North Wollongong beach.
“Looking at the weather forecast, it’s tipped to be still 30 degrees at 5pm tomorrow, so we’re offering people the opportunity to cool off safely in the surf,’’ Wollongong City Council’s Beach Services Manager Paul Dreghorn said.
“If you do fancy a swim, we ask people to make sure it’s at one of our patrolled beaches and between the flags. If there are no flags up, then there’s no swim.’’
The beaches with additional hours are:
Stanwell Park – until 6pm
Austinmer – until 6pm
Thirroul – until 6pm
Bulli – until 6pm
North Wollongong – until 7pm
City Beach – until 6pm
Port Kembla – until 6pm
