What you need to know about the Community Satisfaction phone survey

Wednesday 15 September 2021

At Wollongong City Council, our focus is on improving the services we deliver to our community.

Starting this week, we’ll be running a Community Satisfaction Survey to collect data from residents to get a better understanding of how satisfied our community is with Council’s services and facilities.

Throughout September, IRIS Research will be calling Wollongong residents to invite them to participate in a survey. At the same time, we’re also inviting community members to have their say by filling in an online survey on our website.

This will be Council’s 12th Community Satisfaction Survey, and the information collected will be used to inform Council’s future plans.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said the aim of the telephone survey is to provide Council with a better understanding of the wants and needs of our community.

“Council looks after a range of different services and facilities, from our many pools, parks and playgrounds to our libraries, community centres and the Wollongong Art Gallery,” CR Bradbery said.

“We want to know what services and facilities our community values, what Council is already getting right, as well as what areas we can improve on into the future.”

Residents will be picked randomly to participate in the phone survey with interviewers identifying themselves by saying they are calling on behalf of Wollongong City Council. The online survey will also be available on Council’s website.

“We will be collecting feedback from a sample of Wollongong residents who are representative of our community makeup,” Cr Bradbery said.

“That means IRIS Research may ask participants some individual questions such as age or gender. This data will be kept anonymous and will be used to ensure that we’re building an accurate picture of our diverse community’s aspirations and wants for the future.

“For those who are contacted by Council or an organisation on behalf of us, please remember we will never request for you to provide your banking details or personal information such as name or address as part of the Community Survey. And if you receive a call that you’re not sure about, you can always double check by hanging up and calling Council’s Customer Service team on 4227 7111.”

The online survey will be open until Monday 27 September 2021.
