Elf Fun and Games in Wollongong Library

Thursday 19 December 2019

Wollongong Library today, Thursday 19 December, was a hive of activity with Elf School 2019 in session.

Plenty of aspiring elves were on hand to catch up on stories, sing songs, get their faces painted and hear some words of wisdom from Santa who popped in to cheer his helpers on.

“This is such a fun activity to take us into Christmas,’’ Wollongong City Council’s Library and Community Services Manager Jenny Thompson said.

“We had lots of kids, some dressed up in the Christmas spirit, singing, dancing, reading books and exploring the library. This event is really testament to the changing shape of libraries and the role they play as a vital community hub. Plus, the sounds of delighted kids having a ball – well, that’s what this season is all about.’’

It’s the second time the Central Library has hosted an Elf School and the event attracted more than 250 three to five-year-olds.

The activities on offer included reindeer biscuit decorating, face painting, card and cracker making, photo booth and carol singing.
