Footpath works on western end of Crown Street Wollongong

Works will start on the western end of Crown Street from Sunday 19 July as part of Council’s ongoing plan to upgrade and improve the footpaths in the Wollongong CBD.

The project between the corner of Denison and Crown Streets to the 7/11 Service Station will take approximately 12 weeks to complete as crews revamp the kerb and guttering along the left lane, install a new paved footpath and add new planter boxes for colour.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that the project is part of Council’s larger landscape program to upgrade and maintain western Crown Street.

“This continued program of works aims to improve pedestrian safety and provide better access to all members of the community. This is one of our most important, highly used pedestrian areas and it needs attention and improvement.

“Pedestrians and road users may notice some minor disruptions but there will be traffic controllers in place throughout the works to make sure everyone can travel through the space safely.”

This project will be completed in two phases. Phase one will start with works on the north west corner of Denison Street and Crown Street towards the carpark at 334 Crown Street. Phase two will include works from the carpark on 334 Crown Street to the 7/11 Service station.
