Last chance to send your letters to Santa

Monday 6 December 2021

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! If you need to get in touch with Santa before the big day, now is the time, with Santa’s mailbox still accepting letters up until 10 December.

Santa is busy readying his sleigh and gathering gifts, but he still has some time to answer letters from children in our community.

Wollongong City Libraries will spread the magic of Christmas by sending your letters straight to the North Pole via their special mailboxes. Our Santa mailboxes are located in all seven of our libraries. And don’t worry, our librarians will make sure every letter gets to Santa so he can provide a personalised reply.

“Christmas is a special time of year that is full of excitement and can be a truly magical time for a child. Writing a letter to Santa is a wonderful tradition and it is pleasing that we can play a small part in bringing joy to our youngest community members at this time of year,” Wollongong City Council’s Director Community Services Kerry Hunt said.

“I’ve been told that Santa is a big library fan and loves exciting stories. He’s happy to hear about your favourite book that you’ve been reading along with any items on your Christmas wish list.

“When dropping your letter to our special mailboxes there is no need for a stamp. Just make sure to include your name, age, and address, so Santa knows who he’s responding to. Once that’s all done, and with a little help from our librarians, Santa’s reply will be on its way back to you!”

Please ensure to follow the Public Health Order when visiting our libraries, sign-in with the QR code, get tested and stay home if you’re feeling unwell, and keep mask wearing when it’s appropriate to do so.

You can drop off your letter to Santa at one of Santa’s Mailboxes below by Friday 10 December.

  • Corrimal Library, 15 Short St, Corrimal
  • Dapto Library, 93-109 Princes Highway, Dapto
  • Helensburgh Library, 57 Walker St, Helensburgh
  • Thirroul Library, 352-358 Lawrence Hargrave Dr, Thirroul

In line with the NSW Public Health Order, unvaccinated customers over the age of 16 years are not able to enter the library. These customers can place letters in the return chute when returning items and our librarians will make sure they are placed in Santa’s mailbox.

If you have any questions give your local Library a call, or talk to one of our librarians.
