The countdown is on to New Year’s Eve!

Friday 2 December 2022

This year we’re inviting our community to join us for a relaxed and family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration held at the Wollongong Harbour and Osborne Park.

From 6pm on Saturday 31 December, we’ll celebrate together as the sun sets over the city and finish the night with a spectacular fireworks display above the Wollongong Harbour at 9pm. Like last year, we’ll be firing the fireworks higher up into the sky so that families and friends can spread out along the coast and still have an excellent view.

Festivities kick off at 6pm, with food stalls in Osborne Park, and roving and pop-up entertainment throughout the Harbour precinct. New Year’s Eve is a family friendly event. With no activities planned in Lang Park, it will also provide space for families looking to enjoy a picnic dinner.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that this year’s New Year’s Eve will be a low-key, family-friendly event.

“This year has been a big one with some really exciting moments as well as challenges. New Year’s Eve is a time of reflection and celebration. I know our New Year’s Eve fireworks is always popular. I look forward to seeing residents and visitors joining us at the Harbour to welcome in a New Year,” Cr Bradbery said.

With plenty of food options, why not bring a picnic blanket, grab a spot, and enjoy dinner and fireworks with friends and family.”

We are excited to announce that Cram Foundation are joining us again this year and are sponsoring the New Year’s Eve Accessible Viewing Area. This space is reserved for people with disability or accessibility requirements, and their family, to watch the fireworks.

Use our online form to book a place in this area and register your vehicle for drop off.

More details will be shared closer to the event on our website and Facebook page.
