Get active, stay connected

Thursday 31 March 2022

We’re calling for participants to take part in a new, seniors eight-week gentle exercise and social program called ACTIVATE to Connect.

Starting in April, the free seniors’ program will be run weekly and offers people a chance to improve their health and fitness, meet other people, and get out and about.

“We’ve noticed that even though we’re now out of lockdown, a lot of our older community members are understandably cautious and also still struggling to re-establish their social and support networks,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

“By running a smaller, targeted program we hope to be able to build relationships between seniors who live in and around Wollongong. Although exercise is a core part of the program, participants will also be treated to morning teas, workshops such as how to look after chickens, and social outings.

“I highly encourage any seniors to consider registering for this free program. Places are limited so if this sounds like something you’d enjoy, register your interest as soon as possible.”
