Extraordinary Council Meeting on 11 May

Thursday 7 May 2020

Wollongong City Council will hold an Extraordinary Council meeting on Monday 11 May from 5pm.

The meeting will discuss the draft revised Delivery Program 2018-2022 Operational Plan 2020-21 and Budget for public exhibition. These are the documents, reviewed each year, that guide the work of Council for the following 12 months and into the future.

The documents support the Wollongong 2028 Community Strategic Plan and highlight the services, facilities and infrastructure Council will focus on in the short and long term.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said community members would be able to listen to the meeting, via webcast, and hear the deliberations of Council as they considered placing it out on public exhibition.

“These are important documents for a particularly challenging time,’’ Cr Bradbery said.

“In ordinary times, we would work through this process earlier in the year but the Coronavirus circumstances have given us the opportunity to step back and review our original plans for the following year and amend them to provide more increased levels of support for our city and its people.

“I look forward to discussing the draft Operational Plan and Delivery Program with my fellow Councillors. These documents include exciting projects like the implementation of Stage 1 of the Cringila Hills Masterplan and town centre upgrades in Helensburgh, Corrimal and Warrawong, they outline our support of our creative communities through a grants program, and set out ways we’re looking to support those hit financially at this time through our enhanced Rates Hardship Program.’’

The Council papers for the Extraordinary Meeting are available online. All community members are welcome to join this meeting online via webcast.
