Wollongong Lighthouse turns yellow for National Road Safety Week

Tuesday 17 November 2020

We’re inviting all residents to join us for the annual initiative, National Road Safety Week by making the pledge to drive safely.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that this was a reminder for everyone to drive so others survive this and every week.

“With Christmas just around the corner and COVID restrictions easing, we anticipate an increase in drivers on our roads this summer. Warm weather also means more people will be out and about, so keep an eye out for pedestrians, bicycle riders and children when driving around the community.”

Want to learn how you can show your support? Visit the National Road Safety Week website and make an online pledge to drive so others survive.

From Monday 15 November to Friday 22 November between 8pm-12 midnight, the Wollongong Harbour Breakwater Lighthouse will be lit with a yellow light to raise awareness for National Road Safety Week.

The lighting of the Wollongong Harbour Breakwater Lighthouse is funded by Transport for NSW.“National Road Safety Week might be a once-a-year opportunity to reflect on safe behaviours on the road, but we can all make driving safely something we do every week of the year! Next time you get behind the wheel, make sure that you drive to the conditions and follow speed limits.”
