It’s a tough time for local businesses and in recognition of the challenges many are facing, a new B-Hub business support service is being launched on the ground floor, 93 Crown Street, Wollongong.

The B-Hub offers a broad range of free professional services, face-to-face training, workshops and business support to assist local businesses to launch, grow or adapt to ensure their long-term sustainability.

Council is working in partnership with the Southern Region Business Enterprise Centre (SRBEC) to deliver this initiative. SRBEC will deliver a range of business advisory and support services, including the state government funded Business Connect Program and additional value-added business support services.

Wollongong City Council’s Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said this is a targeted and great opportunity that aims to support the Wollongong CBD business community who have been doing it tough as a result of COVID-19.

“We’ve found that there’s currently a real demand for face-to-face business advice and training here in the Wollongong CBD. The B-Hub will provide a meeting place where business owners can feel confident and comfortable to discuss their business issues.”

As part of this program, businesses are eligible for up to eight hours of free business support as well as two free specialist service consultations. Business owners will also be able to participate in open workshops free of charge on a range of topics including digital and social media training.

Not sure if the B-Hub can help your business? Drop by and say hello. The B-Hub is now open 10am -2pm, Monday to Friday for a general chat or to book a consultation with an accredited business advisor.

The B-Hub will run for a trial period from October to December 2020 with the potential to extend for a further three months.

“We’re committed to assisting our local business community especially as this year has been a challenging one for retailers and business owners throughout the Wollongong CBD,” said Cr Bradbery.

“We’ve already had a small number of local retailers sign up to participate in this program, and I encourage all Wollongong CBD business owners to make the most of this free opportunity to learn how you can help your business.”
