Wondering how your business can work with Council?

Friday 29 October 2021

Are you in the business of supplying building and construction services, cleaning and maintenance or professional services and wondered how to do business with Wollongong City Council?

We are holding an online session that aims to engage with local businesses and share information about potential opportunities there are to work with Council, as a major procurement contractor within the Wollongong economy, over the next 12 months and into the future.

The session will cover Council’s procurement policy and processes – including how our 10 per cent weighting in favour of local suppliers in tenders and formal quotations works – WHS compliance and prequalification, and how suppliers can improve their submissions to Council. There will also be information on upcoming opportunities for businesses.

The free online information session is open to all local businesses interested in supplying and working with Council and includes, but is not limited to, businesses supplying building and construction services, services such as cleaning and maintenance, professional services, and goods.

Wollongong City Council’s Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said Council works with a broad range of businesses which are all essential in running the city.

“This workshop is a great opportunity for local organisations to understand how to do business with Council,” he said.

“Our Infrastructure and Delivery Program is worth $834m over the next four years, and the opportunities for local businesses to work with Council are significant in this space.

“We want to stimulate the local economy and help support Wollongong businesses in putting forth tenders and formal quotations to the necessary standards. This online session is about making Council processes more transparent and making it easier for local businesses to employ members of the Wollongong community to work in their local area.’’.

The free information session ‘Doing Business with Wollongong City Council’ will be an online event on Thursday 28 October from 1.30-3.00pm. Registration for the event is essential and interested businesses can register here or via Council’s events page.
