Kick off the school holidays with Spin Fest Helensburgh

Tuesday 20 September 2022

Helensburgh will be the place to be on Friday 23 September as we bring the fun to this northern suburb ahead of the 2022 UCI Road World Championship elite men’s and women’s races!

From 3pm on the Friday Helensburgh Skate Park and Rex Jackson Oval will be the place to visit for a free, all-ages evening of DJs, food trucks, circus playground, workshops, demos from skate, scooter and BMX pros and a guest appearance from hometown hero Kai Sakakibara.

It’s all part of Spin Fest – Wollongong City Council’s city-wide celebration to complement the UCI Road World Championships.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that this was an opportunity for northern suburbs residents to celebrate their community and get in on the action ahead of the weekend’s racing.

“As a UCI Bike City and host city to this prestigious, global event, we’re really pleased to be able to bring the fun to our local community. Spin Fest Helensburgh is set to be a great evening out for locals ahead of the UCI race which arrives in Helensburgh the next day,” Cr Bradbery said.

“The goal of Spin Fest is to be able to give something back to the community and provide a fun opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy our city.

“I encourage everyone to put Spin Fest on their to-do lists and plan to make the most of UCI. The 2022 UCI Road World Championships are truly our city’s Olympic moment, and it will offer a fantastic opportunity for locals to participate in one of the world’s biggest events.”
