Community Support

We provide support through in-kind donations to individuals or not for profit groups using our facilities.

Types of support available are described below.

We can provide access to our facilities to help local athletes with their training. Up to 10 memberships will be provided each year.

This option is available to individuals who live in the Wollongong City Council area and are a member of a club that uses our centres.

You must be non-professional and show the potential to qualify for state or higher level championships within the next 12 months. Training for events where selection is automatic by payment or subscription won’t be considered.

You’ll also need to show your dedication to training, and that you can work as part of a team.

This support is open to all ages, but if you’re under 14, centre access will be restricted to your sporting area (eg the pool if you’re a swimmer) and age-appropriate equipment only.

We can support not for profit organisations or registered charities by waiving hire fees or providing memberships to help with fundraising activities.

To be considered for this support, your group will need to:

  • be based in the Wollongong City Council area
  • show how you benefit the community and our local economy
  • get most of your income through membership fees, donations or public subscriptions
  • acknowledge the Leisure Centres’ support in promotional material for your event (eg banners, on your website, newsletters, advertising, etc).

We can provide access to the Kerryn McCann Athletics Track for coaches or officials who are part of an affiliated track club. This includes access for coaches providing training for no cost, or officials taking part in club events.

All coaches or officials must show that they have relevant qualifications and insurance for the activities they’re performing.

To be considered for any of the above support, you or your group must not be receiving support for the same activity through any other Council funding or sponsorship program

Limits and conditions apply to all in-kind support. We’ll let you know about these in more detail if your application is successful.
