Meet Obi, a happy and energetic boy who is sure to bring joy and excitement to any household. Obi joined his foster family in mid-June, and since then, he has been a loving companion to his fellow canine foster mate. His cheerful personality makes every day a new adventure, and his boundless energy is perfect if you're looking for a lively, enthusiastic pet.

Obi's foster carer is dedicated to helping him become the best pup he can be, putting time and effort into his training to enhance his behaviour and discipline. Obi has shown tremendous progress, and although he's still learning, his adaptability and eagerness to please are apparent. His current foster experience is helping him refine his playstyle, as he can be a little mouthy with playful nibbles. As such, Obi would be best suited to a family with older kids or adults only, but it's important to note that he is actively working on it.

Obi thrives when surrounded by love and care, and his ideal family would be one that embraces his high spirits and bubbly nature. If you're ready to welcome a delightful and spirited companion who is on his way to becoming a well-mannered, loving pet, Obi is excited to meet you and start creating beautiful memories together.

Yes you can!

When you let us know you're interested to adopt a cat or adopt a dog, we'll contact you and arrange a meet and greet so you can say hello and decide if they’re the one for you.

Our dogs and cats are boarded at a number of regional kennelling facilities contracted by Council. These are currently located across Wollongong, Gerringong and Nowra. You can't directly visit these facilities, but we'll bring the dog or cat to a location in our area that works for you.

Being a pet owner is a big responsibility.

To adopt a pet from Council:

  • You must be over 18 years old
  • You don't have to live in the Illawarra, but you will need to be able to transport your pet home.

Before adopting a new pet, consider your lifestyle and living arrangements.

We recognise the serious issue of baiting within the animal rehoming industry. To help prevent this, we have an assessment process in place for potential owners.

Potential owners are vetted to make sure that they’re suitable and committed to animal well-being.
