Temporary closure of footbridge at Pioneer Beach Estate
UPDATE 22 SEPT:
Repair works have been completed, and the bridge has reopened to pedestrians. We were able to use a fibre-reinforced polymer instead of timber which will extend the life of the bridge.
EARLIER:
Our team has temporarily closed the pedestrian bridge that crosses the duck pond at Pioneer Beach Estate, Woonona.
Parts of the structure had become unsafe requiring maintenance and repairs. This will include the installation of marine plywood with textured paint to reduce the risk of slip and trip hazards.
It will take one to two weeks to finalise the designs and then we can give residents and stakeholders a timeframe for reopening.
In the interim, walkers are asked to carefully skirt the lagoon on the northern side. Alternatively, there is footpath access from John Cawley Crescent to the foreshore.
