Get rid of your extra garden waste for free
Extra garden waste? No problem. We’ve free drop-off events in November at Berkeley, Corrimal and Helensburgh that can help you get rid of it!
Our free garden organic collection events are perfect for residents to get their gardens ready for summer and need to dispose of excess household green waste that won’t fit into their green-lidded bin. This includes leaves, small branches and garden pruning.
“Our Green Waste Drop-off events are back, lending a hand to those carrying out extra spring cleaning of their gardens,” Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown said.
“As we near summer, these events will also support our community who are doing more garden pruning than usual to get their property bushfire ready. We encourage people to be proactive to manage bush fire risks and be assured that any extra small branches, fallen leaves and twigs can be dropped off at our free events.
“There are three events across three Sundays in November. So, make sure to see when is best for you.”
There is a limit on the size of branches that can be accepted. Branches can be no larger than 750mm in diameter and should be no longer than roughly 1m in length.
Any branches larger than this, that can’t be broken down, will need to be dropped off at Council’s Whytes Gully waste facility in Kembla Grange. Fees are associated with this service, please visit our website for more details.
The free drop-off events are for Wollongong residents only, not for commercial businesses.
Please bring along proof that you live in the Wollongong City Council area, such as a driver's licence. Community members are reminded to stay in their vehicles while attending.
