Quiet Hour
A welcoming space for a calm library experience.
Every week, some of our libraries have a Quiet Hour session designed to create a low-sensory, peaceful environment. It’s part of our commitment to making the library accessible to everyone, including those in our community who may find busy spaces overwhelming.
During Quiet Hour, the library transforms into a sensory-friendly space:
Gentler lighting to reduce brightness.
No background music, just the natural hum of the library.
Emergency-only announcements, keeping interruptions minimal.
Lowered volume on phones and computers.
Quiet conversations, ensuring a calm atmosphere.
While Quiet Hour focuses on calm, it doesn’t mean silent. Feel free to move, browse and enjoy your library experience without stress.
Quiet Hour is open to all ages and family-friendly. It is especially supportive for:
Neurodivergent individuals, including those with Autism or ADHD.
People sensitive to bright lights and noise.
Visitors seeking a less busy, low-sensory environment.
