Dunecare volunteers work on our beach dunes to:
- Plant suitable native shrubs and grasses to reduce erosion
- Help control weeds
- Remove rubbish
- Enhance our beaches’ natural ecosystems.
The Dunecare program supports Council’s work to manage dunes and also helps our lifeguards and surf clubs.
If you sign up as a Dunecare volunteer, we’ll provide:
- Free training and technical assistance
- All the equipment you’ll need, such as plants, gloves, tools and personal safety gear
- Removal of any rubbish you collect
- Regular information and education such as workshops.
All you need is a couple of free hours a month to take part in this program.
Call us on (02) 4227 7111 to find our more or start volunteering.
