Get your questions in for Tara June Winch author talk

Friday 14 August 2020

In an exciting coup for Wollongong City Libraries, award-winning author Tara June Winch will be joining us for an online author talk next month – and you have the chance to ask her questions.

Winch’s book The Yield was recently announced as the winner of the 2020 Miles Franklin Literary Award. It also won the 2020 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction, the 2020 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards People’s Choice Award and the 2020 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards Book of the Year.

From late this afternoon Wollongong City Libraries is inviting our community members to put forward suggested questions for the celebrated author who grew up in Woonona. The questions can be submitted on the Wollongong City Libraries Facebook page from 7pm Friday 14 August until 12 noon Tuesday 18 August.

“We have the opportunity to pre-record an author talk with Tara from Paris and rather than just us asking the questions, we thought we’d open it up to our passionate readers,’’ Wollongong City Council Manager Library and Community Services Jenny Thompson said.

“It’s not every day you have the opportunity to put questions to an author whose book has had such a positive impact, and I encourage everyone to jump onto the Wollongong City Libraries Facebook page over the weekend and share their questions for Tara.

“Our staff will pick a selection of these questions and ask them of Tara during the interview.’’

The author talk will be shared via the Library’s website in September.
