Culture Mix - FAQs

You will not be required to book a ticket to enter this festival. For all of the sessions, you can just drop in.

Yes, entry to this event and any accompanying activities and workshops is completely free.

The event will begin at 11am and finishes at 7pm. You can arrive earlier and stay later in the CBD as there are still plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars open and the Wollongong Art Gallery and Library are free to explore.

Council will be letting you know what you can expect from the event on our event page, e-newsletter and social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) so be sure to give us a follow.

No, this is an all-ages event.

We encourage attendees to walk, ride or use public transport. Visit the Getting Here page for full details on parking, road closures, public transport options and maps to help plan your visit.

We want everyone to feel welcome and to have a great time at Culture Mix.

We have a number of features including specific programming for people with hearing or vision impairment or sensory needs. AUSLAN interpreters will also be available at certain points throughout the day. Visit the Accessibility page for full details.

These pages have a translation feature. Staff will also be available on the day to support people with limited or no English. Visit the Language and support services page for details.

We’ll also have volunteers on hand throughout the day to provide assistance and answer any questions you have.

There will be plenty of tasty and affordable food options from around the world that cater for every dietary requirement. Food items will be priced to suit a family-friendly budget.

Bringing your own alcohol is not permitted and will be confiscated if found.

Please don’t bring any of the following items to the event.

  • Alcohol and illicit substances of any kind;
  • Glass bottles, glassware or breakable containers;
  • Eskies, barbeques or shade structures;
  • Weapons of any kind, including any item that can be used as a projectile;
  • Knives or Scissors;
  • Fireworks, sparklers or flares;
  • Laser pointers;
  • Drones or any other remote-controlled device;
  • Bicycles, Scooters, Skateboards or skates;
  • Animals (excluding service animals);
  • Cameras and recording devices for commercial use (unless approved by Council); and
  • Other items deemed by security, police or event staff as having potential to cause injury or public nuisance.

Due to anticipated attendance, we recommend leaving your furry friends at home. Well behaved dogs are allowed in outdoor public spaces on a leash. Council will not tolerate any aggressive behaviour or excessive barking and owners must clean up after their pets. Council staff reserve the right to request that animals be removed from the event site if required.

Yes, there will be a professional photographer and videographer, engaged by Council. We’ll post photos and a highlight video on our socials a few days after the event, so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

If you do not wish to be captured, please advise the photographer/videographer at the time, or move out of the shot.

Yes, photos can be taken for personal use. In fact, we encourage you to capture your memories and post your social media profiles using the hashtag #CultureMixWollongong. We’ll reshare the best snaps on our socials.

Professional photography (including the use of tripods for safety reasons) will not be permitted during the event without prior consent from Wollongong City Council’s Communications team via email.

Yes, cash is accepted and some food stalls may not have EFTPOS facilities. ATM machines are available in Crown Street Mall.

There are multiple ATMs available on-site.

In the event of heavy rain, Council may choose to cancel an event. Notification will be provided via Council’s Facebook page.

Media are requested to email our Media Office to receive permission to photograph, film or run interviews before or at the event.

Stallholder requests are now closed. Email us to register your interest to be involved at other Council events.
