Wollongong City Council is now taking applications for School Work Experience in Terms 3 and 4, 2026. Opportunities are available in different areas across Council.
If you're a year 10, 11 or 12 student at an Illawarra high school, please follow the directions below to apply.
Applications close at 5pm, Monday 18 May 2026.

How to apply
There are two steps to the application program as outlined below. Make sure you complete both steps when applying.

Download the School Work Experience Confirmation Form DOCX, 45.71 KB.
Speak to your Careers Adviser about the placements you're interested in and get their signature on the confirmation form.
Email your completed form to learningwcc@wollongong.nsw.gov.au
Please note, you must send us a completed confirmation form to be eligible for a School Work Experience placement.
What happens next?
All applications from Illawarra students will be considered by representatives of the Illawarra Careers Advisor Network and allocated to provide fair and equitable access to these opportunities.
Your Careers Adviser will confirm placement details if your application is successful.
