You don't need to book tickets for Comic Gong, just drop in! It's totally free and all are welcome.
Yes, entry to Comic Gong, its activities, and live entertainment is completely free.
The event will run from 10am to 3pm.
There is free parking available on site, but we encourage active transport wherever possible, like walking, riding or using public transport.
Visit the Venue page for full details on parking (including accessible parking), public transport options, and maps to help plan your visit. There are no road closures planned for the day, but it may be a bit busier than usual on the roads.
Wollongong City Libraries will be letting you know what you can expect from the event on our event page, e-newsletter and social media channels, Facebook and Instagram, so be sure to give us a follow.
Yes, this is an all-ages and family-friendly event.

Of course! There will be no food options available at Comic Gong in the Dapto Ribbonwood Centre, so you're welcome to bring your own. There are also loads of great food and beverage options available at Dapto Mall and nearby businesses.
Our Comic Gong merch stand will be EFTPOS only. You will need to bring a debit/credit card with you should you wish to purchase official merchandise.
Some of our Artist and Trade stalls will not have EFTPOS facilities. It is also recommended to utilise ATM machines in Dapto Mall to have cash on hand.
Service animals are always permitted. However, we recommend leaving your other furry friends at home. Non-service animals are not allowed within the Dapto Ribbonwood Centre and event staff reserve the right to request that they are removed.
Yes, there will be a professional photographer and videographer, engaged by Wollongong City Libraries. We’ll post photos and a highlight video on our socials a few days after the event, so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram. If you do not wish to be captured, please advise the photographer/videographer at the time, or move out of the shot.
Yes, photos can be taken for personal use. In fact, we encourage you to capture your memories! If you share them to socials, be sure to tag us on @WollongongCityLibraries (Facebook) and @WollongongLibraries (Instagram). We’ll reshare the best snaps to our stories.
Professional photography (including the use of tripods) will not be permitted during the event without prior consent from Wollongong City Council’s Communications team. Please email mediaoffice@wollongong.nsw.gov.au to seek permission prior to the event.
Artist and Exhibitor requests are now closed. Email us at comicgong@wollongong.nsw.gov.au to register your interest to be involved in future events.
In the case of normal rain events, Comic Gong will proceed as planned. In the event of severe weather, Wollongong City Libraries may choose to cancel an event. Notification will be provided via Wollongong City Libraries social media channels and website.
Feel free to dress up as any character you like at Comic Gong, provided your costume adheres to our prop guidelines and maintains the family-friendly atmosphere of the event. Please visit our Cosplay page to review our Cosplay Terms & Conditions and Comic Gong Weapons Policy. Non-compliance with this policy may lead to you being asked to leave the festival.
Please don’t bring any of the following items to the event.
- Alcohol and illicit substances of any kind;
- Glass bottles, glassware or breakable containers;
- Eskies, barbeques or shade structures;
- Weapons of any kind, including any item that can be used as a projectile;
- Knives or Scissors;
- Fireworks, sparklers or flares;
- Laser pointers;
- Drones or any other remote-controlled device;
- Bicycles, Scooters, Skateboards or skates;
- Animals (excluding service animals);
- Cameras and recording devices for commercial use (unless approved by Council); and
- Other items deemed by security, police or event staff as having potential to cause injury or public nuisance.
Comic Gong maintains a strict ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY towards all forms of harassment. If you experience harassment, please relocate to a safe area and seek assistance from the nearest event staff member or security guard. For incidents that occur at the event, we can best assist if they are reported as soon as possible.

We're committed to providing a welcoming, comfortable and safe environment for all people at Comic Gong.
You must treat staff and other Comic Gong attendees with respect and courtesy. This includes avoiding activities that make other people uncomfortable or makes their festival experience less positive.
The following behaviours will not be accepted and may lead to you being asked to leave:
- Antisocial behaviour, including harassing or threatening others, using offensive language, or displaying offensive signs or materials
- Physical or verbal aggression, abuse, or intimidation
- Behaviour that disturbs people and creates an unpleasant or unhealthy environment, including smoking in indoor areas or near building entrances
- Theft, vandalism, carrying a weapon and other criminal offenses.
Illegal behaviour will be referred to the police.
Media are requested to email our Media Office at mediaoffice@wollongong.nsw.gov.au to receive permission to photograph, film, or run interviews before or at the event.
