Children's Book Week®

16 - 23 August 2025 | Book an Adventure!

Children's Book Week® has been a fixture of Australia's literary landscape since 1945. Each year the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) highlights the importance of reading by showcasing and celebrating Australian children’s books, authors, and illustrators.

Join the fun with our Book Week Reading Passport

Book an adventure with reading!

We're inviting primary school aged kids to get involved in Book Week by completing a Reading Passport.

Pick up a Reading Passport from any of our seven libraries, and complete fun challenges. For each challenge completed, you'll earn a stamp from your library.  Reading Passports will be available from Tuesday 5 August – Friday 29 August 2025.

Go in the running to win one of seven 'Reading Passport' prize packs valued at over $100 each.

Check the details on how to enter below. Entries close Friday 29 August.

The Passport is a paper booklet with three challenge categories:
1. Read
2. Explore
3. Create

Each section includes a list of fun activity ideas. Completing a challenge activity earns a stamp:
Read = book stamp
Explore = treasure chest stamp
Create = puffin stamp

To enter the competition, you must collect at least one stamp in each category.

One winner will be drawn at each library location by Friday 5 September. Each prize pack (valued over $100) includes: a tote bag, a lanyard, badges and CBCA 2025 Book Week shortlisted books!

Prizes for the 2025 Book Week Passport Competition are proudly donated by the Friends of Wollongong City Libraries.

1. Pick up an entry passport from any Wollongong City Libraries location

2. Complete challenge activities to earn at least one stamp on all three challenge pages
