Calling all net zero heroes...

We need your help!

The key theme from our new Climate Change Mitigation Plan 2023-2030 is that everyone has a role to play in creating a sustainable future for Wollongong. Getting to net zero will take a combined effort from industry, government, and the community. That’s where you come in...

To inspire residents into action, we want to showcase everyday heroes who have already taken steps to cut emissions and live more sustainably. We're interested in all the ways our community is making changes, big and small, such as using active or public transport, buying energy efficient appliances, switching from gas or buying an electric vehicle.

The aim is to show that there are lots of ways to take steps to reduce emissions at your home or business, that everyone can contribute to emissions reduction, and that it doesn't have to be difficult or cost prohibitive (and there could be benefits like cheaper bills).

We plan to feature these everyday net zero heroes in a series of short video profiles for our website and social media channels. It will be produced by the locally based GoodChat TV.

Now we need heroes, everyday heroes.

We’re looking for people to feature in this series. You won’t need a cape or special superpowers, but you will need to be comfortable being filmed and be able to spare a few hours in late-May (we’ll work with you to find a suitable time). Those chosen to appear will be compensated for their time with a $50 voucher for the next Wollongong Botanic Garden Greenplan Plant Sale.

To nominate, please complete the short screening form below. We’ll begin contacting suitable candidates by phone in early May.
