That's a wrap! All the best photos from Culture Mix

Sunday 22 October 2023

Whew! What a day. We had a fantastic time on Saturday 21 October at Culture Mix, Wollongong's free, contemporary multicultural festival!

With thousands of people enjoying the festival, beautiful springtime weather and lots of smiles, we can say for sure that it was a fantastic community event. Thank you to everyone who joined us in the city to celebrate the cultural heart of Wollongong.

And if you couldn't make it, here's what you missed...

We kicked off the start of the day with a visit to the Celebration Stage.

Wandered through the Ethel Hayton Walkway.

The sizzle and smells from the Food Fair Stalls on Lower Crown Street were mouthwatering!

We took notes at the Global Kitchen and learnt how to make Thai/Myanmar Sticky Rice and Banana.

We joined the crowd cheering on the roving Yau Kung Mun Lion Dance performers.

We visited the Wollongong Town Hall for drumming, singing, poetry, dance and art.

The Bazaar was a cultural marketplace with a display of Aboriginal and global arts and crafts.

Then it was off to the Wollongong Art Gallery for a workshop on Traditional Chinese Ink painting and Islamic Tile art.

Finally, we wrapped up the day with a visit to the Wollongong Library where we joined an Indigenous Weaving workshop.

And  the Korean Haenyeo Show by Pupperoos.
